SOLC~Burning Excitement

August. One of my favorite times of the year. The supplies arrive by truckloads to the hot spots for school supplies. Then I see pens...sharpies, Bic, crayola markers. I admit it. I have an addiction. My mission: the perfect pen. It varies from year to year, but right now it is the fine point sharpie. The new ones that don't bleed through the paper.

But really I think that I choose on focusing on the perfect pen until I meet THEM. The chosen 53 students assigned to me--their teacher. Tonight I met THEM. Now, I'm no longer thinking about the pens or school supplies, but the beautiful faces I spoke to tonight. The hands I shook while smiling and saying, "Welcome to my room!!" All the while excitement brewing. A new year has begun. Welcome, August; welcome students. Bring on the pens!!!

Two Writing Teachers

  1. There's nothing like a good pen and a great group of kids. Happy new school year!

  2. PEN! I loved my August trips to Staples but I needed the perfect writing notebooks. You have 53 kids in one class? Can that be?

  3. My students will be back a week from Friday. I am so excited. Two of my classes are students that I have had for the past 1-2 years, but the 6th graders will be new.

I hope that you continue to enjoy the rest of the start of the year!

  4. Oh boy...that delightful feeling of new pens, new kids and a whole new school year. I have four weeks...and I am already itching! But...53 in ONE class??!!

  5. I'm all about pencils myself - Zebra has these cool mechanical pencils that look like ....pencils!
I hate to say it but I'm not ready to meet faces yet - face my classroom, yes, but not bodies. Give me a few more days...weeks...I'll get there.

  6. I just bought 3 new packs of pens. I don't need the new pens, but I want new pens in every color because a new year is about to begin.
    I'm hooked!
